It’s Been A While… Let’s Play Catch Up

Hi friends! It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to sit down and write for you guys, and I’ve missed it! Life’s been a little all over the place lately, which is a sentiment I’m sure many of you can identify with.

I have so much I want to share with you all, especially with the holidays coming up, which are always my favorite time of year. But first, I just wanted to share a few snippets of my life lately!

STARTED COLLEGE… THEN DROPPED A CLASS… THEN CHANGED MY MAJOR

I guess you could say I had a pretty rocky start to my first year of college. I think almost everyone did this year. Online is definitely very different, and I can be completely honest in saying it has taken me plenty of time to adjust. I started out as a business major, but found that the business major at my school focused a lot on finance and accounting. I am NOT a math person, and don’t plan to have a career based in that field, so that path just didn’t seem quite right for me. After a little research, I decided I wanted to switch my major to Writing, and still plan to take some pre-law classes to prep for law school. I am really looking forward to next semester now that I have more classes that truly interest me.

After deciding I wanted to switch out of the Business college, I also ended up deciding to drop my Macroeconomics class. Y’all, I don’t know what I thought I was doing getting into an honors Macro class, but I was not put on this earth to be an economist. I have always considered myself a good student and I was getting so frustrated trying to struggle through the class. (It didn’t help that the professor didn’t seem inclined to help anybody either…) I was able to withdraw from the class and focus on my other classes and I definitely think I am all the better for it.

My best friend since 2nd grade and I got to start college together 🙂

GOT MY VERY FIRST TATTOO!

In the past few years, my youth group at church has gone through a very tough time. We lost two very close friends to all of us. These two boys were absolute beacons of light to everyone who knew them, and their losses have been hard for all of us. I made a big decision to get a tattoo to honor them, my very first tattoo ever. I was nervous about the pain, but it ended up being completely bearable and I would definitely do it again!

Thank you Keith from Green Door! You’re the best!
Its so nice to have a physical reminder of them with me at all times.

CELEBRATED HALLOWEEN “HARRY POTTER” STYLE WITH MY BESTIES

For Halloween, my friends and I wanted to do something fun, but we wanted to make sure we were still being Covid-friendly and safe. We decided to throw a little party for ourselves (there’s only 4 of us) and just chill and have fun. Lately, our Harry Potter phases have been back in full swing (thanks TikTok) and so we decided to go all out with a Hogwarts theme.

Conveniently, all four of us are sorted into the four different houses and so we each dressed up as a student from our respective house. My friend and her fam did an amazing job decorating for the party, and we had a magical evening at Hogwarts! 🙂

I’m a proud Ravenclaw 🙂
my favorite wizards! ❤

BECAME A REGULAR AT A LOCAL COFFEE SHOP

I know you all already know that I am a huge fan of coffee shops. I keep tabs on every new cafe that opens up near me and make it my mission to visit them all. Recently, I’ve discovered JJ’s Coffee and More (find their Insta here), a locally owned shop that’s only 10 minutes from my house. It’s safe to say that I am well on my way to becoming a regular there. The owner is the absolute sweetest, and she does such a great job making the shop feel cozy and welcoming. The decor is adorable and she always has wonderful music playing. I love to be able to support local businesses, and this is one that I just can’t get enough of!

My mom and I love their coffees and breakfast sandwiches!

I could talk about their food all day. I have eaten both breakfast and lunch there on different occasions, and it never disappoints. They have a grab and go fridge for an easy meal, or you can order any number of amazing sandwiches and baked goods.

My sister and I love their iced lattes!
I can’t explain how delicious their Pumpkin rolls are. I would go get another one right now, no question.
I am at my happiest when I get JJ’s for breakfast.

If you live anywhere near the Ardmore area, please, please, please go try them out! You will not be disappointed, I promise!

Thank you all so much for reading and catching up with me. I have so many ideas for holiday blog posts this year, and I’m really looking forward to sharing them with you all. I hope this post finds you all happy, healthy, and safe!

Stay sweet, Sophia ❤
