hi friends! I’m working on a few longer posts for the blog, but in between I thought I’d share something kinda short & sweet.
I’m currently in quarantine, sick and bored out of my mind, and all I’ve been doing this week is listening to music. So, I thought why not share what I’ve been listening to lately and talk a little about some songs that I’m loving? I’d love to share more music-related things on this blog, so what better way than to just jump right into it? These songs have absolutely no rhyme or reason; they’re all over the place which is a pretty fair representation of my music taste. Without further ado, here’s what I’ve been listening to lately:

Porch- Pearl Jam
This whole album is a great love of mine. I’ve been on a major 90s rock kick lately, Pearl Jam & grunge especially. My favorite from this record changes all the time, but “Porch” has been ON REPEAT. And I don’t expect it to go away any time soon.

OK- Wallows
I’ve loved this song for a few years now, but I’ve recently been revisiting it. I love Wallows and this is easily my favorite of their songs. I’m extra excited about it because they’re on the Bonnaroo lineup this year, and I’m so stoked about seeing them live!

Say Hello 2 Heaven- Temple of the Dog
Another side effect of my 90s rock kick- this song (and this album as a whole) has been playing nonstop. Chris Cornell is a legend and this song has my favorite vocals from him. There’s so much emotion and power in this song, it’s one of a kind! This album is on my vinyl wishlist but it is almost impossible to find, so maybe one day I’ll own it!

Going to California- Led Zeppelin
There’s just something about this song. It’s easily my favorite from LZ, and it’s one of my favorite songs in general right now. It’s on all my road trip playlists, and Robert Plant’s vocals are just to die for. If you’re interested, I heard a great cover of this song recently that has a more acoustic sound, and I definitely recommend listening to it. (Search Going to California- joe p and it should come up!)

Bella Donna- Stevie Nicks
Ahhh, Stevie. One of my favorite people on the planet. I love her so much. I love her stuff with Fleetwood Mac, and I love her solo stuff too. This song is definitely my #1 from her solo career, and I could listen to it in any mood. It’s that good. (I own this album on vinyl and it’s one of my prized possessions.)

WHERE WE ARE- The Lumineers
New Lumineers album means I’ve had them on repeat lately!! The Lumineers are always one of my top artists and BRIGHTSIDE (which came out January 14th) didn’t disappoint. My favorite has changed a few times while listening to it for the past week, but right now “WHERE WE ARE” is sitting solidly at the top. Definitely check it out!

No Rain- Blind Melon
Once again with the 90s this week. Shannon Hoon’s voice is one of my favorites of all time and this song never fails to make me happy. I’m sure everybody has heard it, but if you haven’t or you just haven’t listened in awhile I recommend playing it at least once or maybe 5 times 🙂

Day Tripper- The Beatles
I always love the Beatles, but lately I’ve been listening to them more than usual. “Day Tripper” is one of my all time favorites! I mean what can I even say about this song? It’s just so groovy and I never get tired of it.

Daughter- Pearl Jam
I know, I know, two Pearl Jam songs on one list. But I promise that’s nothing compared to the amount of Pearl Jam I’ve actually been listening to lately. This song is my favorite off their second album, and it’s been one of my most played recently. Eddie Vedder can do no wrong in my book.

The Weight- The Band
I mean who doesn’t love this song? It’s such a classic, you can never go wrong with it in my opinion. I recently scored this album on vinyl and this song is even better on the record player!
Well, there you have it, a little eclectic selection of songs that I’ve been listening to lately. Maybe this can become something I do pretty regularly, what do you think?
I hope you saw some new songs to check out on this list, or maybe some old favorites you’d like to revisit. And as always, stay tuned 🙂
Stay sweet, Sophia ❤
